When I stayed there they were in the middle of a big time renovation. I'm sure they'll end up making it a lot nicer than I experienced. Location will probably be the reason you end up staying here... it's proximity to the racetrack along with being walking distance to a bunch of restaurants make this a nice place to set up camp around Del Mar. It might be your best entry to mid-level hotel without comparing to some of the big five-star locations up the street.

I had high hopes for this hotel when I saw it was a Marriott and usually have great experiences. Both kids and I were woken up multiple times our first night by the person above us. Spoke to the front desk the next night and when we asked to see if we could move to the second floor, they assured us that the guest had checked out and the room was “out of order” so no one would be above us. About 2hrs later we heard lots of noise again that woke up the kids. I went back out and spoke to another person at the desk and they told us someone had checked in an hour ago. Very frustrating that we weren’t told the truth about the room and neither woman offered up an apology. Typically Marriott has incredible guest services but this has been the opposite of that experience and quite a costly room to get woken up multiple times and not be told the truth.

This place is a rip off for the price they charge. Find other places like Holiday inn or Hampton Inn with better pricing. Their breakfast sucks, I mean they got literally nothing compared to Holiday inn and 10$ coupon they provide doesn’t even cover a basic oat meal with coffee. Plus parking is 22$ per night and right next door the holiday inn Charges 16$. Holiday inn nightly rates are lower plus they have buffet free breakfast. If you have a party of 4 and you stay for 4-5 days, you automatically save 150-200$ on your stay..

I wanted to stay someplace outside of the downtown area and be a little bit closer to the beaches. This place met those needs but it certainly isn't worth the $400+ a night that they charge. The rooms are ok but the wall AC units are noisy and rattle. I asked for something to be done but nothing was done to address it. There were stains on the furniture and the curtains the door was frame was pretty beat up. If this was a $100 a night hotel I'd give it a better rating. But the location doesn't compensate enough for the rest of the property's gaps.

Cute little hotel with a great layout (pool/bistro in center courtyard). I requested a quiet room and was not disappointed. Room 249 overlooking the residential neighborhood to the west was outstanding for a peaceful night sleep 😴 🙂. Even with the enhanced quiet, it was still only a 30 second walk to the pool! Only knock is the room showed its age, and the A/C started off pushing hot air. Had to wait an hour for engineering to show up.

I love LOVE the bistro (that's why I came back), almost everything about the room, the location of the hotel, and the linens You need a decent 24-hour coffee in the lobby in the afternoon when the bistro is not open. $14/day for parking is awful! The rooms do not have enough USB charging ports, only multiple wall receptacles you can plug in. That's so yesterday.

Great staff! Loved the bistro in courtyard. Had breakfast and dinner here. Fresh and delicious. Pool and hot tub were lovely. The pool area had trash strewn about. The noise between rooms could use some remediation.
